There is a growing need for information on the fly that is always up to date & adaptable. Here at CATIM we have developed non-proprietary open information systems that are practical to use as well as cybersecurity aware.
One such technique that we employ is to create documentation usually as a PDF that is stored on any cloud and pointed to by a link pre-programmed on NFC (near field communication) Tags.
The NFC Tag can then be stuck or fixed onto any piece of equipment. The user simply scans the tag with their mobile requiring no app while the documentation developer continually updates content.
NFC is a secure over-the-air RFID technology with a near touch range of 2-5cm however larger tag coils will achieve the upper range. Due to the tags utilising radio frequency, only tags specified can be mounted on metal surfaces such as our NFC21x12 tag. Tags have a specified amount of memory that can be written to such as 127 or 888 characters that we note in the SKU.

CATIM can optionally print & label onto tags or program tags to any design supplied by you or created by us to your requirement. Off the shelf desktop readers / software and custom software development for standalone or integration with your existing systems.

How to create a product manual linked to NFC tag example...
- Use any content authoring PC app to create a document (our CATIM Genie will create PDFs from a PowerPoint deck).
- Load the PDF on any cloud (we prefer using Microsoft365 SharePoint as we know it well).
- Program the shareable weblink of the PDF onto the tag with a mobile free app.
- Any user can then tap the tag with their mobile that requires no app to be installed on the device.
- The consumer then views the resource or PDF in a web browser on their mobile phone.
- The document author can dynamically update the PDF on the cloud at any time and the consumer just taps the remote tag again to view the updated information version. The tag never needs changes after the initial link programming.
- There are many options available at the time of programming such as locking the tag to make it non-editable thereafter or to require the user to enter a pin after tapping to view the resource.
